Thank you for your excellent reports from OLA Daniel!

I really like your live reporting videos...so well done!

I think when I next go with my camera I will visit the Jewish temple and talk to them, if they will spare me their time.

If I were rewriting it for them, I would put a little less emphasis on press responsibility, and not waste time with the bullshit idea that this woman is 'trying to discredit' their movement. And get something a little less stiff than 'consider this a denouncement'.

I'm annoyed, once again, by the notion that having Jewish ritual events on-site places them above reproach (and before people jump on that, I know they didn't say those words. They have, however, mentioned it several times in the context of telling the world they're not anti-Semites.) (Also, that's a 'synagogue', unless they have a Reform congregation on-site as well.) It would sound better to me if they simply said that they have, and wish for, a widely diverse group of protestors, and will not put up with bigotry.

I am pleased that they committed to asking any future McAllisters to find another venue.

Now, who are these folks, and what authority do they have?

And now I've clicked on their link...

This is just shameful. As a Jew (if not a particularly practicing one), watching how the American-Israel lobby gives a horrible name to Israel (and Jews for that matter) becomes more embarrassing every day. And since Republicans have decided to make believe that Obama is "vulnerable on Israel" --- they will say anything for perceived political gain, no matter whether it's actually true or not --- I suspect this sort of thing is only going to get shamefully worse as the 2012 election nears.

Oh, well, cancel all my helpful advice from above, they don't need it. They're already going with the Israel Lobby defense. How totes adorbs.

If you ask Time magazine they are the no longer silent majority. Authority? They barely have consensus!

Okay that's from Bradblog NOT the OLA site. (Just mentioned for clarity for anyone breezing thru)

I think the Emergency Committee for Israel are pretty shameless in their dishonesty. They are using Israel as another way to attack Obama, trying to paint him as a supporter of antisemitism.

Yes, it is. However, that's their link. This is how they're explaining themselves. Not 'it's hard to keep crazies out of a big public event', but 'look out, being called an anti-Semite is a right-wing trick'.

I've heard this song before.

Yes, they are.

And Occupy LA is using the 'Israel lobby' as way to discredit anyone who tries to hold them accountable.

Maybe I'm missing something here. Can you expand a bit for me?

Occupy LA responds to the ADL. They explain that mostly anything that might have been reported as happening was just random people, and the media should be more responsible, and they have a lot of Jews at the event, but yes, they denounce any anti-Semites out there, and they'll tell any they find to move along.

So far, so good. Then they link you to a nice article at Bradblog, saying "The link below is a must-read for anyone who would like to learn more about this subject."

The link is about how the Israel Lobby is working with the Koch Bros. and other right-wingers, and these dark forces are out to accuse people who challenge the GOP of anti-Semitism.

This, to me, feels like a fairly clear statement that they see the problem not as one of keeping nuts with unsavory agendas out (an admittedly difficult problem), but that they are being demonized by AIPAC to empower the GOP.

Then there are the comments that follow on the Occupy LA blog.
